Self-Reflection on Usability Testing
Lessons Learned
Conducting this usability test taught me how real users interpret visual cues, headings, and call-to-actions differently from what a designer may assume. Observing test participants highlighted the critical importance of language precision, content hierarchy, and layout logic, even on a simple, static website.
What Surprised Me
It was surprising how much small visual or wording issues affected user expectations. For instance, two users misunderstood the site’s purpose because of one misleading phrase. Also, some users never noticed links or sections without explicit prompting, reinforcing the value of intuitive layout.
Final Thoughts
This experience helped me better understand the user's mindset. Usability is not only about function—it’s about trust, engagement, and accessibility. Through real feedback, I gained a deeper appreciation of designing for humans, not just screen layouts.
